According to founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal, the online food delivery service Zomato has begun a test operation to deliver specialty food from any city in India to other regions of the nation.

According to a blog post by him, Zomato is working to make it possible for customers to order anywhere in India and have “legendary dishes like baked rosogollas from Kolkata, biryani from Hyderabad, Mysore Pak from Bengaluru, kebabs from Lucknow, butter chicken from Old Delhi, or pyaaz kachori from Jaipur” delivered the following day.

“By leveraging Zomato’s vast network of restaurant partners and delivery partners, deep understanding of food technology, and insights into what our customers love, legendary dishes will be delivered from across India to you, the very next day,” Goyal further added.

Asus announces new ExpertBook laptops

This week’s IFA 2022 is being held in Berlin, and Asus has unveiled a number of new ExpertBook computers aimed towards business users. The company’s first Expert-series workstation, the ExpertBook B6 Flip, as well as the new ExertBook B5 and B5 Flip, are among the updated laptops.

The prices of these laptops have not yet been disclosed, but they will all be available in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Cyber fraud: Meerut & Ghaziabad men lose huge money

In two separate cases of cyber fraud, a resident of Meerut has claimed that he was defrauded of Rs 1.84 crore over multiple benefits promised by a website, while a resident of Ghaziabad has claimed that he lost Rs 95 lakh believing in a job offer abroad, Uttar Pradesh police officials said on Tuesday.

According to a report in PTI, the crimes have been reported to the Noida Cyber Crime police station in Sector 36 and are currently being investigated.

RIL to add Campa brand

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has purchased the domestic soft drink brand Campa from the Pure Drinks Group in New Delhi, according to an ET report.

The action was taken shortly after Reliance Retail announced plans to create its fast-moving consumer goods division by growing the market share of its current private labels, introducing new ones, and acquiring regional brands.

Besides lemon and orange varieties, Campa will be re-launched across the country by Diwali in three flavours, including its iconic Campa Cola form. Retail sales of the brand will take place in both the chain’s own stores and neighbourhood kiranas. The deal was valued at Rs. 22 crores in the report.

Google, the world’s largest search engine, has introduced a new bug bounty programme where it will pay up to $31,337 (almost 25 lakh) to researchers who find vulnerabilities in the company’s open-source projects.

In exchange for discovering security holes or vulnerabilities in software, services, or operating systems, security researchers or ethical hackers may be offered bug bounties. Many large technology companies, including Apple, Google, Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon, provide bug bounty programmes.

Crypto investors may look to diversify their portfolio

Global cryptocurrency investors may be attempting to diversify their portfolios after several high-profile losses earlier this year to protect themselves from any potential “black swan” catastrophes, according to a report by digital asset data source CryptoCompare.

The highest asset under management (AUM) gains were seen by global crypto funds based on assets falling under the category of “other” (representing non-bitcoin and non-Ethereum items), with a 12.3% increase to $1.13 billion as of 23 August.

Former Razorpay executive returns to firm as CIO

After serving for over three years at the National Payments Corporation of India, payment gateway provider Razorpay on Tuesday announced that former official Arif Khan will rejoin the organization as chief innovation officer (CIO).

Khan will oversee the banking, risk management, regulatory relations, and public policy departments in his capacity as CIO at Razorpay.

“During his previous stint with us, he played a crucial role in establishing several foundational pillars of our banking capabilities and nurtured relations with various external stakeholders. With Arif on board, we look forward to creating differentiated products for digital businesses and their consumers,” said Harshil Mathur, co-founder and CEO, Razorpay.

Snap Inc to lay off 20% staff

According to The Verge, which cited unnamed sources, Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, plans to fire 20% of its employees as of this week. The article claims that the layoffs will affect developers who work on apps and games for Snapchat, the hardware division that makes the Spectacles AR glasses, and the Zenly team, which makes the social mapping tool that Snap purchased in 2017.

According to a different claim in the Verge, which was confirmed by a Snap Inc representative, two top executives, Jeremi Gorman, the chief business officer of Snap, and Peter Naylor, the vice president of ad sales, are purportedly headed to Netflix to run their advertisements business. Snap Inc. has yet to formally confirm the layoff plans.

Customers looking to buy refurbished phones

More Indian users are choosing to purchase refurbished cellphones as a result of a rise in the average selling price (ASP) of smartphones in the nation. Analysts predict that the refurbished market will expand at a rate of 18% in 2022 as buyers search for less expensive options, despite the fact that demand for smartphones and other electronic devices has decreased overall.

“Last year, about 55 million refurbished phones were sold in India. This year, this number is expected to grow to around 65 million by end-2022,” said Siddharth Surana, engagement manager at market research firm, Redseer Consulting.
